Theatre Arts
Saint Mary’s High School boasts an award-winning Theatre Arts Department, having been honored in competitions and festivals throughout northern California. Nearly 100 students participate in annual productions of a fall play and a spring musical, both onstage (acting, singing, dancing) and backstage (leadership, running lights or sound, building sets, props, costume or makeup design). Led by adult professionals, students are trained to excel in all areas of Theatre Arts, not only preparing them for success in college or as a career but also helping them acquire and sharpen critical life skills in public speaking, communication, problem-solving, adaptability, and more!
In the classroom, we offer courses for all skill sets and grade levels, including Drama Theory and Performance (for newcomers), Intermediate Drama, and Advanced Drama Workshop. Participation in the fall play and spring musical also receives course credit through Drama Special Studies.
